Become a Volunteer

The most important people in the Feelgood Factory are our team of volunteers and many of the services we provide could not happen without their help.

Volunteering for the Feelgood Factory does not have to involve contributing a lot of your time – you can volunteer for as many hours as you are able.  Similarly, you do not need to have skills or qualifications – training will be provided where necessary.  All that we ask is that you genuinely want to contribute towards our work and that you are prepared to make a commitment to be as reliable as possible.

Why volunteer?
People who volunteer reap a lot of benefits.

  • Gain experience – Whether you want to start a new career, develop skills alongside a training course or just try out something new, voluntary work is a way of acquiring valuable work experience.
  • Build confidence – Many life events can lead to reduced self-confidence. Volunteering can help you to build up your self-esteem in a supportive and valued environment.
  • Meet new people – Voluntary work can be a way of meeting new people and developing a fresh social network.
  • Improve your CV – More and more employers value the experience gained through voluntary work, so volunteering can be a way of getting noticed when trying for a new job.
  • Give back to your community – Your community needs YOU!  There are a lot of people for whom life can be difficult and statutory services like Social Services can’t provide everything that is needed.  Support from volunteers can make all the difference.

Volunteers must be aged over 16 and some opportunities require a Criminal Records check.  Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent involvement.  All expenses will be paid.

Examples of volunteering opportunities currently available are:

  • Befriender
  • Driver
  • Escort
  • Community Handyman
  • Community Shopper
  • Community Allotment Worker
  • Community Gardening Assistant
  • Community Health Peer Mentor
