Mental Wellbeing at the Feelgood Factory

It is claimed that at least one in four people in the UK will have some sort of mental health problem during their life arising normally from responses to a wide range of everyday issues such as stress and pressure at work or in the family, bereavement, job loss, financial pressures and so forth. The statistics suggest that there are currently millions of people in Britain who are currently suffering from a mental health problem or know somebody who is.

Through the Skills for Living project the Feelgood Factory has become a resource for help and support. Funded through the Big Lottery, the project, as well as working directly with people who are affected by mental health issues, also aims to help the local community maintain positive mental wellbeing by offering activities that promote social inclusion, encourage creative and positive thinking as well as helping to develop new skills.

As well as regularly running successful ‘tried and tested’ courses and activities we are constantly responsive to the needs of the local community and welcome any suggestions for future developments to the project

So far the project has provided courses on the following:

Stress Management

Body Image

Positive Thoughts

Anger Management

Relaxation

Confidence Building

Relationships

Thinking Skills

Skills for Living is also able to offer training in mental health awareness to volunteers and groups within the local community.
